Mission Statement
To foster a residence hall/house environment
that provides the basic requirements of physical comfort,
safety and security as the foundation for a community that
is conducive to academic achievement and student development
in the areas of intellectual, emotional, ethical, recreational
and cultural growth.
Goals
- To create and maintain a residence hall/house and University
community in which students take responsibility for understanding
and enriching their environment and respecting the rights
and needs of others and the University as a whole.
- To establish a theory-based student development model
and to integrate it within Residence Life philosophy,
programs and procedures.
- To continue to define and refine a comprehensive and
educational approach to campus alcohol abuse/misuse through
disciplinary counseling and referral, valuesbased educational
programming and specialized staff development and training.
- To implement comprehensive residence education which
supports special students and which provides programming
for students and staff that enhances understanding of
cultural, ethnic, racial, physical, sexual and religious
differences.
- To maintain a high level of staff support and morale
through effective interstaff communication, staff development,
committee structure and attention to professional needs.
- To continue staff recruitment efforts and selection
procedures which attract high quality and diverse professional
and paraprofessional staff.
- To provide an overall evaluation methodology of all
facets of the Residence Life operations including personnel,
programs and procedures.
