Crime Alerts and Prevention

In an effort to effectively communicate about ongoing crime investigation, the Office of Public Safety has created this Crime Alerts Page.


On Tuesday, August 26th, the Department of Public Safety received information regarding an incident occurring on Saturday, August 23rd. The incident involved the occupants of a red Ford Explorer shouting racial slurs at two SU students near the West Village complex. The occupants came back around in the vehicle and one of the occupants threw a rock at the students. The rock did not hit anyone and there were no physical injuries reported.

On Thursday, August 28th, the Department of Public Safety received information regarding a vehicle approaching a student near Apfelbaum Hall and University Avenue and the occupant shouting a racial slur. A short time later a student near the Library reported that the occupant of a green Jeep Cherokee shouted a racial slur at him as the vehicle passed.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Selinsgrove Police Department and the SU Department of Public Safety. Anyone with information is encouraged to call SU DPS at x4444 or the Selinsgrove Police at 374-8655.

All are reminded to walk in groups and be aware of surroundings while walking at night. Anyone may contact Public Safety for an escort on campus at any time.
