Criteria for SU SIM Service

 

1. Science teacher at a secondary school within a 60-mile radius of Susquehanna University. The term “secondary” includes grades 7th through 12th.

2. Teacher able to use biology, chemistry, physics or physical science experiments listed on the SIM website (www.susqu.edu/SIM).

3. Teacher able to use the equipment listed on the SIM Web site.

4. Teachers must individually submit an accurate and complete reservation form at least two weeks before a requested SIM visit or equipment drop. Teachers must specify the experiment they wish to perform from the list of available labs on the SIM Web site. See SIM Web site for instructions on how to fill out a reservation form.

5. A visit or equipment drop is only entered into SIMventory once the reservation form is received.

6. If SIM has not received the reservation form by one week before the requested visit or equipment drop, the visit or drop will be cancelled.

7. Teachers must specify the dates when they will use the equipment during a drop to maximize distribution of equipment.

8. Teachers can borrow equipment for a maximum of two weeks.

9. To qualify to borrow equipment from SIM, a teacher must have attended a SIM training workshop in the past three years.

10. SIM mobile educators are certified secondary science teachers and will be treated as colleagues by teachers and as teachers by students.

11. If a teacher has a problem with any equipment during a drop, the teacher will contact SIM immediately (372-4779 secretary or 372-4780 MEs), explain the problem and give SIM the opportunity to remedy the situation.

12. All borrowed equipment will be returned in the same condition as when it was loaned out.

13. If any equipment is damaged or broken during a loan, the teacher will contact SIM prior to return of the equipment and explain the situation.

14. All borrowed equipment will be repackaged for return in the same containers in which it arrived.

15. Teachers will fill out and return the SIM Mobile Lab Evaluation form after each SIM visit.

 

* We reserve the right to refuse service to any teachers or schools who do not meet the criteria listed above.
