The Governor signs the education package - Alleluia

On December 23, 2003, Governor Rendell signed the education budget package. Included in that package was full funding for Science in Motion at last years levels. What that means is that we are back in business. The months of letter writing, phone calls and e-mails by all of you have paid off. Thanks to all of you for your advocacy of such a valuable program.

Our legislators were there for us - A Big Round of Applause

Representatives Bob Belfanti, Steve Cappelli, Russ Fairchild, Brett Feese, John Gordner, Adam Harris, Merle Phillips, Senator Roger Madigan and newly elected Senator John Gorder have been a strong voice for Science in Motion throughout this difficult budget process. They were available to return phone calls and e-mails, provide updates on the budget process as it meandered its way through negotiations and to advocate for us in numerous conferences and caucuses. Please be sure you let these hard-working men know you appreciate their efforts to promote science education across the commonwealth.

Where are we at?

Melanie will be coming back to work as soon as possible so there will be someone to answer the phone and get back to you in a timely fashion. You shouldn’t have to play phone and e-mail tag any longer.

We are beginning a job search for both chemistry and biology mobile educators. The job descriptions are included below. Please feel free to pass this opportunity along to anyone who may be qualified. Remember it is a state requirement that the mobile educator hold a Pennsylvania teaching certificate.

We will begin to plan a weeklong summer workshop near the end of June.

We will try to organize a dinner this spring so everyone can reconnect and hopefully meet our new mobile educators.
