Where I am headed:
In the fall, I will be attending Vanderbilt University, pursuing a master's degree in earth and environmental sciences.
I have accepted a full-tuition scholarship and research assistantship, which includes a sizable stipend to cover my living expenses. This will allow me to focus on my thesis research without having to obtain an additional job or teach.
At Susquehanna, I've been able to pursue a unique project—it allowed me to become proficient in independent research. If I did not have this research experience, I am confident that I would not have been as appealing a candidate to Vanderbilt.
I also was able to attend national conferences. I actually met my future faculty adviser at Vanderbilt while presenting my research at the Geological Sciences of America (GSA) annual meeting in Colorado this year.
What I'll miss most about Susquehanna:
I will definitely miss the sense of community most. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. I do not think that this can be found everywhere. I have learned and grown as an individual at SU, and I will miss all of the people who made that possible.
On becoming part of the alumni community:
I'm proud to be a Susquehanna alumna and imagine that I will never spend too many years without returning to visit campus. In the future, I look forward to sharing my positive experiences at Susquehanna with others.
