Meet Eric Koellner
Class of ’07; Majoring in Sociology with an Anthropology Minor
What originally interested you in
Sociology and Anthropology?
The thing that originally got me interested in sociology was Dr. Hill’s Social Problems and Dr. Ramsaran's Principles of sociology class. It was my first real introduction to learning about how society really works and from then on I just wanted to know more.
What do you like about Sociology
and Anthropology?
Learning about all the different cultures all over the globe is exceptionally interesting; but what I really like about Sociology/Anthropology is learning about how society works, especially in this country, and how I can try to change it for the better.
What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class so far has been
Dr. Ramsaran's Development and Globalization class. I am quite disenchanted
with the consumptive stage of capitalism that operates in this country and
learning about its history and how it affects our daily lives was very
interesting to me.
Career plans?
I hope to get a doctorate in Sociology and become a professor so I can teach others what I know and research what I want to research.
