ESHLEMAN EARNS VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – For the second time this season, Susquehanna University freshman middle blocker Kerri Eshleman has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending October 27. Eshleman (Landisville, PA/Hempfield H.S.) helped the Crusaders to a second-place finish at the Elizabethtown Halloween Classic, earning All-Tournament Team honors as Susquehanna went 3-1 at the tournament and 4-2 for the week while playing three regionally-ranked teams. She averaged 4.79 kills and 1.64 blocks and hit .409 in 14 games in the tournament, including 14 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks in a 3-1 win over Moravian and 14 kills in 20 attacks in a 3-0 win over Kean. For the week, Eshleman averaged 3.81 kills, 1.48 blocks and 2.33 digs per game and hit .352 in 21 games. She also posted double-figure kills in five of six matches and recorded five or more blocks in four matches, and averaged 3.4 kills and 2.0 blocks against the regionally-ranked opponents. Eshleman, who previously earned Commonwealth Player of the Week honors for the week ending September 22, leads the Crusaders with 372 kills (3.58 per game), a Susquehanna single-season record 162 blocks (1.56 per game) and a .306 hitting percentage. She needs just 19 kills to tie the school single-season record of 391 set in 1995 by Michelle Liechty. The Crusaders (23-7 overall, 5-2 Commonwealth Conference) will travel to Moravian for a Commonwealth Conference semifinal match on Wednesday, October 31 at 7 p.m.
