THREE EARN COMMONWEALTH WOMEN’S SOCCER HONORS

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Three Susquehanna women’s soccer players have been named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star team, as voted upon by the league’s eight head coaches.

Senior forward Kim Anderson earned first-team honors while a pair of freshmen earned second-team recognition – defender Danielle Zaborowski and midfielder Lindsay Nevins.

Nevins also shared the Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year award with Moravian defender Kelly Haymaker.

The Crusaders finished the 2001 season with a 10-6-1 record (3-4 Commonwealth), setting a single-season school record for wins under third-year head coach Jim Findlay.

Anderson (Baytown, TX/Parkland, PA H.S.) tallied 12 goals and five assists for 29 points in 17 matches, finishing in a tie for second in goals, eighth in assists and third in points in the Commonwealth Conference. She holds or shares the Susquehanna single-season and career records for goals, assists and points, ending with 102 points on 43 goals and 16 assists.

Nevins (Basking Ridge, NJ/Gill-St. Bernards H.S.) posted eight goals and three assists for 19 points in 15 matches. Her eight goals are tied for the fifth-most in a season in school history while her 19 points are sixth-best in a year. Nevins finished 10th in the Commonwealth Conference in points per game and ninth in goals per game.

Zaborowski (Allentown, PA/Salisbury H.S.) was one of three Crusaders to start all 17 games and was a key leader of a defensive unit that posted a 1.42 goals against average during the 2001 season. The Crusaders allowed just under 12 shots per game and recorded four shutouts among their 10 wins.
