Field Hockey Enters National Rankings
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University field hockey team is tied for 19th in this week’s STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Poll, through games of September 9. The Crusaders (3-1) surged into the rankings on the strength of victories over Scranton, Notre Dame (MD) and Moravian last week. They are tied with Eastern Mennonite (2-2) for the final spot in the Top 20 survey. Salisbury University is ranked first in the rankings after receiving seven of 15 first-place votes. William Smith, which is ranked second in the poll, will host Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon. Fellow Commonwealth Conference members Messiah (9th) and Lebanon Valley (10th) appear in the rankings along with Western Maryland (tie-14th), which defeated Susquehanna 3-0 in the season opener on September 1.
