Bartosic Named to D3football.com Team of the Week
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University junior split end Mark Bartosic has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games of October 12, the Web site announced Thursday. Bartosic (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy H.S.) broke the school single-game records for catches, yards and touchdowns in the Crusaders’ 52-35 loss at Widener on Saturday. Already the single-season and career record holders in all three categories, Bartosic added three more records to his collection with 15 catches for 261 yards and a Middle Atlantic Conference record-tying five touchdowns. He hauled in scoring passes of 61, 47, 39, 6 and 4 yards as he single-handedly tried to rally the Crusaders from a 45-15 third-quarter deficit, making eight catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone. Bartosic’s 261 yards receiving are the fourth-highest total in Division III this season and the fourth-highest in MAC history. Bartosic, who extended his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 25, surpassed the 100-yard mark for the 17th time in his career. He has caught at least one touchdown pass in 21 of 25 games at Susquehanna and a total of 37 in his career. Through five games this season, Bartosic leads both the team and the MAC with 37 catches for 610 yards and nine touchdowns for the Crusaders (2-3 overall, 2-2 MAC). Earlier this week, Bartosic was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week and was one of three players named Division III Offensive Player of the Week by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette. Susquehanna will host FDU-Florham (2-3 overall, 2-3 MAC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the first on-campus night football game in program history.
