Bailor, McKeever Named Field Hockey All-Americans
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University senior attacks Leah Bailor and Katie McKeever have been selected to the 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-American team, the NFHCA announced Monday. Bailor (Sunbury, PA/Middleburg H.S.) was a second-team selection while McKeever (Norristown, PA/Methacton H.S.) was named to the third team, becoming just the second and third All-Americans in program history following Bailor’s third-team selection in 1999. Together, they helped the Crusaders to the most successful season in program history as Susquehanna finished 17-4 overall record and ranked seventh in the final STX/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll under 28th-year head coach Connie Harnum. The Crusaders, who finished second in the Commonwealth Conference with a 6-1 league mark, advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in program history before falling 1-0 to College of New Jersey in second-round action on November 16. During the season, the Crusaders established single-season program records for victories (17), longest winning streak (15) and goals scored (66). Bailor (Sunbury, PA/Middleburg H.S.) is both a three-time South Atlantic Region and Commonwealth Conference first-team All-Star. She led the Commonwealth Conference with 22 goals and set single-season program records for goals, assists (12) and points (56). Seven of Bailor’s 22 goals were game-winners, while her 56 points ranked second in the conference behind Danae Chambers of Messiah (58). Bailor concluded her Susquehanna career as the program leader in goals (51), assists (35) and points (137). McKeever (Norristown, PA/Methacton H.S.) was first-team All-South Atlantic Region and first-team All-Commonwealth Conference after recorded 11 goals and three assists for 25 points this season to rank third on the squad in both goals and points. McKeever ended her Crusader career ranked third in goals (32), fifth in assists (13) and fourth in points (87).
