Bartosic Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University senior split end Mark Bartosic has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after setting two MAC career receiving records in Saturday’s 26-14 win over Moravian.

Bartosic (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy H.S.) caught 10 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score as the Crusaders improved to 2-0 in the conference for the first time since the 2000 season and 2-1 overall.

Bartosic’s first touchdown catch of the day, a 47-yard reception from Craig Ulrich in the second quarter, broke the MAC touchdown record of 44 he shared with Michael Coleman of Widener (1998-01). His second score covered 35 yards in the third quarter and established the conference mark for receiving yards at 3,782, surpassing the record of 3,776 set by Bill Stromberg of Johns Hopkins from 1978-81.

He also ran for a 20-yard touchdown on an end around in the second quarter and finished with 250 all-purpose yards on the afternoon.

Bartosic leads the MAC with 23 catches for 362 yards and four touchdowns after leading the conference in all three categories in 2002 en route to earning MAC Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Bartosic now ranks 10th in Division III history with 3,782 yards and fifth with 46 receiving touchdowns, and is fourth all-time in the MAC with 220 receptions. Factoring in all divisions of NCAA football (I-A, I-AA, II and III), Bartosic’s 3,782 receiving yards are 32nd all-time while his 46 touchdowns are tied for ninth all-time.

The Crusaders travel to Delaware Valley (2-0 overall, 1-0 MAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
