Kleha. Rawlins Share Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week Award
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University junior split end Josh Kleha and sophomore cornerback Justin Rawlins are the co-winners of the team’s Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week award, sponsored by the Golden Corral Family Steak House along Routes 11 & 15 in Shamokin Dam. Kleha (Shamokin, PA/Mount Carmel H.S.) caught three passes for a career-high 111 yards and a touchdown while Rawlins (Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg H.S.) made a game and career-high 15 tackles in the Crusaders’ 42-19 loss to King’s last Saturday at Lopardo Stadium. Kleha helped bring the Crusaders within 21-19 in the third quarter on a 78-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Craig Ulrich, which enabled him to become the first Susquehanna player other than Mark Bartosic with a 100-yard game since Rashonn Drayton had 123 yards against FDU-Florham in 1999. He is second on the team with 21 receptions for 299 yards and a touchdown this season. Rawlins made 12 solo tackles among his 15 stops and also broke up three passes against the Monarchs, helping the Crusader secondary hold King’s to just 118 yards through the air on seven completions in 23 attempts. He is fifth on the team with 34 tackles and leads the squad with 10 pass breakups. The Golden Corral will donate a check for $50 in the names of Kleha and Rawlins to the charity of their choices during Friday's Quarterback Club luncheon at noon in the Shearer Weber Dining Room of the Degenstein Campus Center on the Susquehanna campus. Through seven years of sponsorship of the Gus Weber Player of the Week award, Golden Corral has donated $6,100 to charity in the names of Susquehanna players. The Player of the Week award is named after former Susquehanna University president Gustave Weber, who served as president of Susquehanna for more than 18 years and was a former standout player at Wagner College. He was an avid booster of Crusader athletics, and in particular the football team, which he coached for the final two games of the 1965 season. The Crusaders (3-4 overall, 3-3 MAC) host Albright (4-3 overall, 3-3 MAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lopardo Stadium.
