Baker Named Commonwealth Field Hockey Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University freshman goalkeeper Shannon Baker has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in field hockey after leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories last week.

Baker (Dover, PA/Dover H.S.) allowed just one goal and made 12 saves as the Crusaders defeated Elizabethtown by a 2-1 score on Thursday and Notre Dame (MD) 5-0 on Saturday.

Baker, who has allowed one goal or less in seven of eight games this season, made six saves against Elizabethtown and six more against Notre Dame for the third shutout of her brief career. She is second in the Commonwealth Conference with a 0.88 goals against average and has an .851 save percentage while playing all 560 minutes in goal this season.

The Crusaders (5-3 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth Conference) return to action on Tuesday at York beginning at 4:00 p.m.
