Field Hockey Ranked 19th in First Division III Poll
SELINSGROVE, PA – The Susquehanna University field hockey team is ranked 19th in the season’s first STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III poll, through games of September 7. The Crusaders (2-0) were ranked seven straight weeks to conclude the 2002 season and finished seventh in the final poll after finishing with a school-record 17 victories. Susquehanna, under first-year head coach and former Crusader standout goalkeeper Amy Zimmerman, has yet to allow a goal in two non-conference home wins over Wilkes (2-0) and FDU-Florham (3-0). The College of New Jersey (4-0) received 13 of 26 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the initial rankings. Susquehanna opponents ranked in the poll include Messiah (2-0) in second, Lebanon Valley (1-0) in fourth, McDaniel (3-0) in sixth, Muhlenberg (3-0) in 12th, and William Smith (1-1) in 18th place. The Crusaders return to action on Saturday at Muhlenberg beginning at 1 p.m.
