Dormer Named Commonwealth Women's Tennis Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University sophomore Danielle Dormer has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in women’s tennis after improving to 7-0 in 2003 with a pair of victories last week.

Dormer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East H.S.) picked up the Crusaders’ lone singles win on Friday against Messiah in a 7-2 loss, winning 6-1, 6-0 over the Falcons’ Heather Bush. She followed up on Saturday with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Scranton’s Ashlee Wydra as part of a 7-2 Crusader victory.

Dormer has lost two or fewer games in six of her seven victories this season, and has compiled an 18-3 record in two seasons while playing number-two singles behind defending Middle Atlantic Conference champion Tara McHugh, who is the Crusaders’ all-time leader in singles wins with 43 against just eight losses.

The Crusaders (5-2 overall, 3-2 Commonwealth Conference) host Elizabethtown on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
