Soccer Programs Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - For the third straight year, the Susquehanna University men's and women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for each having team grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher during the 2005-06 academic year.
A total of 313 intercollegiate soccer programs (81 men, 232 women) qualified for NSCAA Team Academic Award with just 50 schools, including Susquehanna, having both their men's and women's teams recognized.
Furthermore, Susquehanna is one of an elite group of 16 schools to earn the Team Academic Award for both men and women in each of the last three years.
The Susquehanna men finished with a 9-8-1 overall record while the women compiled a 6-11-1 mark during the 2005 season. In addition, Susquehanna placed eight men's and five women's players on the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team following the 2005 season.
Both teams were coached by Jim Findlay, who was named Commonwealth Conference men's Coach of the Year in 2003 and women's Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004.
