Cooking Up Some MAC Honors

Kylie Cook MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey Player of the Week
Continuing to Excel in Just Second Season Ever as a Goalkeeper

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) – Susquehanna University sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Cook of Huntingdon (Huntingdon Area H.S.) is the MAC Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. She led Susquehanna, which is ranked ninth in the latest Field Hockey Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, to a pair of MAC Commonwealth wins – a 1-0 overtime shutout of defending MAC champion Messiah, and a 3-1 win at Albright Saturday.

Cook, who never played as a goalkeeper before last season, posted a 0.45 goals-against average and .950 save percentage for the week – making 12 saves in the Messiah shutout and seven at Albright while allowing just the one goal. The win over Messiah was the program's first over the Falcons in the 25 seasons under current head coach Connie Harnum.

"Our defense has been so solid all season, and Kylie's a been one of reasons why. She's made some big saves for us, particularly in that Messiah game. This award is just an indication of how far she's come since just becoming a goalkeeper last season," said Harnum.

Cook presently has a 0.48 goals-against average and .898 save percentage. She ranked second in the MAC Commonwealth Conference in both categories as of the latest rankings a week ago. She has now played in 24 career games and has a 0.94 goals-against average and .880 save percentage.

A business major, Cook is the daughter of Rodney and Pamela Cook.

Now 10-1 overall, 4-1 and in second-place in the MAC Commonwealth Conference, Susquehanna plays at Freedom League co-leader Wilkes (7-4) Tuesday in a 4 p.m. contest.
