New Assistance

Brennan, Bowers, Reichenbach New Assistants in Soccer, Training, Cheerleading

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Former Selinsgrove Area High School Multi-County League All-Star Terry Brennan is Susquehanna University's new assistant men's and women's soccer coach. Laurie Bowers of Langhorne is the university's new assistant trainer, and former Penn State and Mifflinburg High School cheerleader Jennifer Reichenbach of Shamokin, is a new assistant cheerleading coach.

Brennan was a Multi-County League All-Star in both his junior and senior seasons as a sweeper at Selinsgrove. After graduating from Selinsgrove in 1994, he went on to College Misericordia where he was a two-year starter at midfielder. Brennan was also a three-time selection to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

He earned both his bachelor of science degree in general sciences and his master of science degree in physical therapy from Misericordia last May.

In addition to his playing credentials, Brennan co-coached the Nor Cen-Pen under-19 team from Selinsgrove with current Crusader senior midfielder/sweeper Josh Steffen (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove H.S.) this past summer.

"Terry is going to help us with the defenders since he was primarily a defensive player during his career. His addition to the staff allows us to bring more individual coaching to each position," said Crusader men's and women's soccer head coach Jim Findlay, who is in his second year with the men and his debut season with the women.

Brennan resides in Selinsgrove and is the son of Edwin and Dorothy Brennan.

Bowers was a student athletic trainer at Shippensburg University the past four years and earned her bachelor of science degree in communication arts with a minor in athletic training from the school last May. In addition to Shippensburg, she also participated in a four-month summer athletic training program at West Chester University in 1998, and took summer athletic training courses at the Bucks County Community College near her home in 1997.

In addition to her education, Bowers is a member of the National Athletic Training

Association and Pennsylvania Organization of Student Athletic Trainers (POSAT), and was president of the Shippensburg University Sports Medicine Club as a junior. She also performed research with Dr. Lori Dewald at Shippensburg on the effects of alcohol and athletic injuries.

She is the daughter of Linda and Bill Bowers of Langhorne.

Originally from New Berlin, Reichenbach was captain of her Mifflinburg High School cheerleading squad as a senior - helping the squad make the International Cheerleading Foundation National Championships while finishing seventh. She joined a teammate to also finish seventh in the country in co-ed stunting. She graduated from Mifflinburg in 1993.

She went on to Penn State, where she was a member of the various Nittany Lion cheerleading squads for two years. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Penn State in 1997.

Reichenbach also served as a staff member at the 1995 National Cheerleading Association Camp, and has also been a cheerleading competition judge.

She now resides in Shamokin and is the granddaughter of Linda Smith from New Berlin.
