Springman Tied for 11th in Division III in Saves With Five

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University junior righthander Matt Springman is tied for 11th in NCAA Division III in saves with five, through games of April 22.

Springman (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville H.S.), who had not pitched at any level since grade school prior to this season, has set a school single-season record for saves by converting all five save opportunities for the Crusaders (10-13 overall, 4-8 Commonwealth Conference).

Springman's five saves places him in a tie with Elizabethtown lefthander Bryan Pittinger for the conference lead.

In 7 1/3 innings spanning six appearances, Springman has allowed just five hits and two unearned runs while striking out six and walking one. He has held opponents to a .192 average in 26 at-bats.

Following Thursday's home game with York, the Crusaders host Juniata on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final league doubleheader of the season.
