Hogan's the Hero

Crusader Ace Named Commonwealth Conference Softball Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna senior righthander Kristen Hogan has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in softball after recording three victories during the Crusaders' recent Southern trip.

Hogan (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury H.S.) posted a 3-2 record and a 1.75 earned run average in five games (four starts), striking out 27 batters in 28 innings while issuing nine walks. She tossed a four-hit shutout in a season-opening 3-0 win over nationally-ranked Salisbury State on March 3, and blanked Chowan on just one hits while striking out 12 on March 7.

Hogan has extended her Susquehanna career strikeout record to 366 with her early-season performance, and with 35 career wins is within eight of the Susquehanna career record of 43 set from 1983 to 1986 by Judy Sholtis.

The Crusaders (3-5 overall) are slated to travel to Lycoming for a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m.
