ANNVILLE, PA – Susquehanna University junior shortstop Shana Lalo has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in softball for the week ending March 23, the conference announced Monday.

Lalo (Bethlehem, PA/Northampton H.S.) went 5-for-7 with two runs and two RBIs as the Crusaders swept a doubleheader (2-1 and 8-2) from Widener on Saturday. She singled home Susquehanna's first run in the opener, and singled and scored in both the fifth and sixth innings of game two as the Crusaders tallied eight runs over the final three innings to roll to the win.

During a seven-game hitting streak, Lalo is 16-for-23 (.696) with seven runs scored and eight RBIs. She has picked up two or more hits in five straight games and has knocked in at least one run in all seven games of her hitting streak.

For the season, Lalo leads the Crusaders with a .451 batting average and has knocked in 11 runs to rank second on the team.

The Crusaders (9-6-1 overall, 3-1 Commonwealth Conference) will host Lycoming on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
