Cipoletti Named to IWLCA North/South All-Star Game
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University All-Region defender Liz Cipoletti has been selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) Division III North/South Senior All-Star game on June 8 in Baltimore. The game is one of four All-Star games played during the STX Lacrosse Festival at Loyola College, and will be played at 4 p.m. prior to the Division I and II Senior All-Star game. Cipoletti (Fort Salonga, NY/Northport H.S.) is the second Susquehanna player selected to participate in the prestigious game, as All-American Erin Powell played in last year’s event at Johns Hopkins. Cipoletti, a Middle Atlantic Conference first-team All-Star and second-team IWLCA Metro Regional All-America selection, scored eight goals and added two assists for 10 points this season and led the Crusaders with 85 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers. A four-year starter, Cipoletti played in 66 straight games during her career and joined Umile as the only two players to play every minute on the field this year. Cipoletti finished her Susquehanna career with 36 goals and 29 assists for 65 points, ranking 10th in career points and tying for fourth in assists. The Crusaders finished the 2002 season with a 12-5 record and ranked 20th in the nation in the final IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll, and won the first MAC championship in program history following an 11-10 overtime win over Drew in the title game on May 4. Susquehanna also made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs, falling to eventual runner-up College of New Jersey 21-4 in the second round.
