Haile Named Commonwealth Baseball Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University junior catcher Bob Haile has been named the Commonwealth Conference baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 12 after knocking in five runs in a doubleheader split with Albright last Thursday.

Haile (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy H.S.) hit the first home run hit by a Susquehanna player at three-year-old Bollinger Field, a three-run homer as the Crusaders fell 4-3 to the Lions in the opener. In game two, Haile knocked in the go-ahead runs with a two-run double as part of a six-run sixth that gave Susquehanna a 10-6 win.

Haile leads the Crusaders in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.426), hits (26), doubles (8), home runs (2), runs batted in (19), walks (14) and on-base percentage (.545).

Susquehanna (7-11 overall, 4-8 Commonwealth through Sunday) hosts Elizabethtown in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bollinger Field.
