Haile Named Second-Team All-Conference
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University junior catcher Bob Haile has been named second-team All-Commonwealth Conference in baseball as voted upon by the league’s eight head coaches and announced by the conference on Wednesday. Haile (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy H.S.) led the Crusaders and ranked among the Commonwealth leaders in a number of offensive categories as Susquehanna finished 9-20 overall and 5-16 in the conference under fifth-year head coach Tim Briggs. Haile won the Commonwealth batting title with a .414 average and led the league in on-base percentage at .517 in his first full season as the Crusaders’ starting catcher. He finished with two home runs and knocked in 23 to tie for the team lead in each category, while leading the team with 15 multi-hit games. A career .336 hitter, Haile tied for second in the conference with 11 doubles, slugged .586 to tie for fifth and drew 19 walks to tie for fifth as well. Behind the plate, he threw out 14 of 40 would-be base stealers (35 percent) and committed just one passed ball.
