SELINSGROVE, PA – The Susquehanna University women’s golf team is scheduled to make its debut as the school’s 23rd varsity sport when the squad tees off at the Gettysburg Invitational on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The Crusaders were originally slated to open their schedule last week, but tournaments at Muhlenberg and Dickinson were canceled due to poor weather.

Susquehanna will field a roster of 11 players, including seven freshman, under the direction of head coach Liz Cranmer Briggs.

According to the NCAA, a total of 135 colleges and university in Division III sponsor women’s golf, including 14 in the state of Pennsylvania. Susquehanna is the first Middle Atlantic Conference school to field a varsity women’s golf team.
