Crusaders Place 12 on NFHCA National Academic Squad
SELINSGROVE, PA – Twelve Susquehanna University field hockey players have been honored with selection to the 2005 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad, the NFHCA has announced.
To be named to the National Academic Squad, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better through the first semester of the 2005-06 academic year.
In addition, the Susquehanna team was one of 73 schools recognized for maintaining a overall team grade-point average above 3.0 during the 2005 field hockey season, as the squad had a combined 3.28 grade-point average.
Earning National Academic Squad status from Susquehanna were sophomore attack Jessica Aitken (York, PA/Exeter), a 3.33 elementary education major, junior goalkeeper Shannon Baker (Dover, PA/Dover), a 3.95 global management and French major; senior defender Amelia Davies (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), a 3.48 elementary education major; freshman Kristen Epting (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg), a 3.71 biology major; freshman Lauren Haus (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield), a 3.43 liberal arts major; and junior attack Jenni Iacovone (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), a 3.46 psychology major.
Also, senior midfielder Caitlin Meara (Wilmington, DE/Concord), a 3.71 elementary education major; sophomore attack Becki Nash (Glen Rock, PA/Lancaster Mennonite), a 3.71 public relations major; senior defender Shelley Reppert (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg), a 3.75 biochemistry major; junior attack Ashley Rowell (Wilmington, DE/Concord), a 3.71 elementary education major; sophomore attack Megan Sites (Loysville, PA/West Perry), a 3.48 human resource management major; and sophomore Julie Yingling (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg), a 3.45 broadcasting major.
The Crusader s finished with a 10-9 overall record and in second place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 5-2 league record under third-year head coach Amy Zimmerman .
