Zimmerman Resigns as Field Hockey Coach
SELINSGROVE , PA – Susquehanna University head field hockey and assistant women's lacrosse coach Amy Zimmerman has resigned after three years as head coach, director of athletics Pam Samuelson announced Monday.
Zimmerman, a 1998 graduate of Susquehanna, compiled a 28-25 record in three seasons with the Crusaders, including a 10-9 mark in 2005 that featured a second-place finish in the Commonwealth Conference with a 5-2 league record.
“Under Amy's leadership, our program has sustained a high level of play that has been a hallmark of Susquehanna field hockey,” said Samuelson. “She is and will always be part of the Susquehanna family and we wish her nothing but the best in the future.”
She returned to Susquehanna in 2003 to succeed retiring head coach Connie Harnum following a two-year stint as head coach of field hockey and women's lacrosse at Fairleigh Dickinson University 's College at Florham.
A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse and field hockey at Susquehanna, Zimmerman was a two-time second-team All-Commonwealth Conference selection in field hockey and finished her career with a 1.29 goals against average. In 1997, Zimmerman was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Second Team All-Regional Team.
A national search will begin immediately for Zimmerman's successor.
