Women's Lacrosse Picked Seventh in MAC Preseason Poll
SELINSGROVE, PA – The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish seventh in the Middle Atlantic Conference preseason coaches' poll, the conference office announced Thursday.
The Crusaders finished seventh in the MAC last season with a 5-5 conference mark and a 6-9 overall record, with four of their five league losses by one goal. First-year head coach Brenda Brewer welcomes back seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last year's squad.
Junior Rachel Devilbiss was a first-team All-MAC selection after leading the Crusaders with 36 goals and 38 points last season, while sophomore Katelyn Deese was also named first-team All-MAC after leading the team in draw controls (41), ground balls (46) and caused turnovers (31).
Defending MAC champion Messiah earned nine first-place votes and 99 points to capture the top spot in the poll, followed by Lycoming (two first-place votes, 86 points), Drew (80 points), Scranton (64 points), Elizabethtown and FDU-Florham (60 points apiece), Susquehanna (55 points), King's (48 points), Widener (30 points), Moravian (17 points) and Wilkes (13 points).
