SELINSGROVE, PA – All-American high jumper Mike Marr (Muncy, Pa./Warrior Run) will represent Susquehanna University at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh held May 22-24 at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Marr, a senior, qualified for nationals with a jump of 2.04 meters on April 11 at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. He sits knotted for ninth on the performance list, sharing the spot with six other Division III jumpers from across the country.

A Crusader co-captain, Marr will be competing in the high jump for the third time in his career at the national level. He finished ninth in at the Indoor Championships in March 2007 before obtaining All-American accolades at the 2007 Outdoor Championships with a 2.00 meter leap to tie for sixth place.

Winner of five conference championships in the high jump, most recently the 2008 Outdoor Landmark Conference Championships, Marr is slated to compete at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Marr was joined by classmate John Calvo (Pennington, N.J./Lawrence) and sophomore Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) on the list of those who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships. Calvo cleared the provisional pole vault mark of 4.70 meters on April 25 competing at the Penn Relays, while Thistle joined the list on May 13 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. He ran a 9:18.09 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to decimate the provisional time of 9:23.00. Despite outstanding provisional performances, Calvo and Thistle were not granted the liberty of advancing to the national meet.
