Averages 16 Points, 15 Rebounds in Two Games for Crusader Women's Team

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University senior center Karyn Kern has been selected to the Middle Atlantic Conference Weekly Honor Roll in women's basketball for the week ending January 14, the conference announced Monday.

Kern (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley H.S.) averaged 16.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in two games for the Crusaders (9-4 overall, 3-2 Commonwealth Conference), including her 50th career double-double on the strength of 25 points and a season-high 19 rebounds in a 69-61 win over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday night.

Kern leads the Commonwealth Conference in rebounding at 11.4 boards per game and is third in scoring average at 16.2 points per contest. She also ranks second in the league in field-goal percentage at 52.9 percent and has scored in double figures 12 times in 14 games this season. Her 1,569 career points rank third in school history while her 944 rebounds are just 52 shy of the Susquehanna all-time record of 996 boards set from 1991 to 1995 by Megan Lytle.

Following a non-conference game at Muhlenberg on Monday night, the Crusaders return to Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Juniata at Houts Gymnasium.
