Even More MAC Honors For Kern

Selected to Weekly Honor Roll after 20.0 Points and 13.0 Rebounds in Two Games

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University senior center Karyn Kern has been selected to the Middle Atlantic Conference Weekly Honor Roll in women's basketball for the week ending February 18, the conference announced Monday.

Kern (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley H.S.) has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll three times and is a two-time Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week this season. She averaged 20.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks as the Crusaders split a pair of games in preparation for the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, which begin Wednesday night at Elizabethtown.

She tallied a season-high 30 points and 17 rebounds in the Crusaders' 73-71 loss at Juniata on Wednesday, and closed the regular season with 10 points and nine boards as Susquehanna rolled past Albright 72-57 on Saturday. In those two games, Kern shot 15-for-26 (57.7 percent) from the field and 9-of-10 (90.0 percent) from the free-throw line.

Kern finished the regular season as the Commonwealth Conference leader in both scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (11.0 rpg) while tying for the conference lead in blocked shots (1.5 bpg) and ending up second in field-goal percentage at 56.1 percent.

Wednesday's Commonwealth Conference semifinal game at Elizabethtown begins at 6 p.m. and will air live on WQSU-FM (88.9) with play-by-play from Jack Burns and color commentary from Jim Wagner. Airtime for the pregame show is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
