HURD NAMED TO COMMONWEALTH HOOPS HONOR ROLL
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University junior forward Tim Hurd has been named to the Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball weekly honor roll for the week ending January 12, the conference announced on Monday. Hurd (Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills H.S.) led the Crusaders in scoring twice as Susquehanna won consecutive Commonwealth Conference games for the first time in two years, defeating Juniata 74-68 on Tuesday and Albright 77-65 on Saturday. Hurd returned from an ankle injury to score a career-high 24 points and grab eight rebounds against Juniata, and followed up with 22 points and five boards against Albright. For the week, Hurd shot 17-for-27 (63 percent) from the field and connected on 3-for-7 from three-point range, helping the Crusaders shoot 50 percent or better from the field in both victories. Hurd is second on the team in scoring average at 14.1 points per game and is shooting 47 percent from the field for the season. The Crusaders (7-6 overall, 2-2 Commonwealth) will travel to Messiah on Tuesday night for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
