ZIMMERMAN NAMED COMMONWEALTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University sophomore guard Chris Zimmerman has been named the Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 2, the conference announced Tuesday. Zimmerman (Coal Township, PA/Shamokin Area H.S.) averaged 19 points and five assists as the Crusaders won two of three non-league games last week. He scored a career-high 21 points and dished out eight assists in an 81-72 win over Dickinson on Monday evening, and tallied game highs of 23 points and six assists in a 94-77 win at Baptist Bible on Saturday. Zimmerman is tied for fourth in the Commonwealth Conference in scoring with a team-best average of 17.2 points per game, and leads the conference in assists with 5.6 per contest. He also ranks among the Commonwealth leaders in three-pointers per game (tied for fourth at 2.0) and steals (fourth at 2.40 per game). The Crusaders (3-2 overall) will host Lebanon Valley in the team’s Commonwealth Conference opener on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
