Susquehanna to Honor All-Century Basketball Teams
SELINSGROVE, PA – In recognition of 100 seasons of varsity basketball at Susquehanna University, members of the All-Century Team for both men and women will be introduced during Saturday’s Commonwealth Conference doubleheader against Widener at Houts Gymnasium. An alumni game featuring former men’s and women’s players will take place at 11 a.m., and at halftime of the 1:00 women’s game members of the women’s All-Century Team will be recognized. The men’s All-Century Team will be introduced at halftime of the men’s game, which tips off at 3:00. The All-Century Teams recognize all former men’s and women’s basketball players who met any of the following criteria: first-team conference All-Star, 1,000-point scorer, or Susquehanna Sports Hall of Fame member. Susquehanna played its first season of varsity men’s basketball in 1901-02 while the women’s program debuted in 1960-61. The Crusader men did not field a varsity squad in 1917-18 or 1934-35.
