SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University junior forward Bubba Mills has been named the Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 11, the conference announced Monday.

Mills (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic H.S.) averaged 15 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Crusaders defeated #15 Catholic and Lycoming last week to extend their win streak to five games.

He scored 15 points and added a career-high 13 rebounds as Susquehanna defeated the Cardinals 79-63 on Thursday night, then contributed 15 points and eight boards in a 77-69 win against the Warriors on Sunday, who were unbeaten against Division III opponents entering the game.

For the season, Mills is third on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game and second on the squad with an average of 6.4 rebounds per game. He also leads the team and is eighth in the conference in free-throw percentage at 84.1 percent and is shooting 51.5 percent from the field to rank ninth in the league.

At 10-2 overall, the Crusaders have tied their best 12-game start in program history set in 1962-63 and matched in both 1983-84 and 1993-94. Susquehanna resumes Commonwealth Conference play at Messiah on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
