Crusaders to Host Pepsi Night on Wednesday

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Wednesday is Pepsi Night at Susquehanna University as the Crusader men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Messiah College in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.

All fans in attendance at the twinbill will be treated to free hot dogs and Pepsi, courtesy of the Pepsi-Cola Company in Selinsgrove, Weis Markets and Kunzler’s Hot Dogs. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. while the men’s game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tipoff.

In addition to the hot dogs and beverages, the final Pepsi Halftime Shootouts of the 2003-2004 season will be held at intermission of each game, featuring all the previous Pepsi Shootout winners from men’s and women’s home games throughout the season.

Contestants will attempt to score the most points in 60 seconds through layups, foul shots and three-pointers. The winner of each contest will receive his or her choice of a North American vacation package or a Microsoft Xbox, compliments of Pepsi.

In the women’s game, the Crusaders (5-15 overall, 1-8 Commonwealth) face a challenge in first-place Messiah (19-2 overall, 10-0 Commonwealth), which is ranked 11th in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Falcons downed the Crusaders 76-62 at home on January 14 in the teams’ first meeting of the season.

Meanwhile, the Crusader men (13-7 overall, 5-5 Commonwealth) will try to snap a three-game losing streak and remain in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the conference against the Falcons (11-10 overall, 3-7 Commonwealth), who have dropped six of their last seven games but defeated Susquehanna 69-50 on January 13 in Grantham.
