SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University director of athletics Pam Samuelson has announced that head baseball and assistant football coach Tim Briggs has resigned to pursue other interests.

“We are sorry to see someone depart with the character and work ethic of Tim. He has been an excellent coach and role model for our student-athletes and the campus community in general, and we wish him nothing but success in the future,” said Samuelson.

Briggs compiled a 56-92-1 record in five seasons as head baseball coach at Susquehanna, leading the Crusaders to the 2000 Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs while earning Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year honors in his debut season of 1999. He was an assistant coach for two seasons before assuming head coaching duties.

For the last eight seasons, Briggs has served as the football team’s defensive coordinator and helped Susquehanna rank among the top three in the MAC in rushing defense three times, including 1998 when the Crusaders ranked fifth in Division III.

During his tenure as defensive coordinator, Briggs coached a pair of All-American defensive backs in Jeremy Zeisloft (1996) and Antonio Nash (2000).

“Tim was and still is an excellent coach whom we will miss dearly,” said head football coach Steve Briggs. “He has been a large part of what we have done over the past eight years, and on a personal level it has been especially gratifying to have worked with my brother.”

Prior to arriving at Susquehanna, Briggs spent seven years at Division II American International College, where he was a defensive assistant for four years before serving his final three seasons as defensive coordinator.

His wife, Liz, remains on staff as the Crusaders’ head women’s basketball and women’s golf coach.
