Susquehanna University Swimming Preview

SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna University men's and women's swimming teams will look to finish at the top of the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2006-07 after finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, at last year's MAC championships. Head coach Ged Schweikert welcomes back 12 men's and 11 women's letterwinners as he begins his 29th season at the helm of the Crusaders.

For the men, junior Jeff Fornadley (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) will look to once again lead the Crusaders in the sprint-freestyle events. Fornadley became the first Susquehanna swimmer in program history to capture two gold medals at a MAC championship meet.

Junior Andrew Lyon (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham) will also look to contribute in freestyle events as well as the individual medleys, while fellow junior Alex Thurstlic (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley) returns for the Crusaders in backstroke and butterfly events.

Also looking to make a splash for the Crusaders will be sophomore Derek Wolf (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) in the breast stroke along with junior Brian Savard (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) and sophomores Ryan Miller (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) and Rich Brinker (Niantic, CT/East Lyme).

On the women's side, junior Samantha Meddaugh (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert) will look to lead the Crusaders in freestyle events as she held the Crusaders top time in the 500-, 1,000-, and 1650-yard freestyle events a year ago.

Also returning for the Crusaders will be juniors Lindsey Moretti (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond) and Abby Letterese (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) as the top Susquehanna finishers in breast stroke.

Other Crusader swimmers looking to contribute this season will be seniors Kristen O'Rourke (Cumberland, ME/Greely) and Nady Chmil (Chinchilla, PA/Abington Heights). Also, six freshmen will be looking to forge a spot at the top of the Crusader depth chart.
