Four Crusaders Earn Landmark Athlete of Week Honors

SELINSGROVE, PA -- Four Susquehanna University athletes earned Landmark Conference weekly honors, the conference office announced Monday.

Senior Kevin Cuff (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity B.V.M.) was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while sophomore Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It was a Crusader sweep in swimming, with senior Jeff Fornadley (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) taking the honors on the men's side and freshman Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) on the women's.

Cuff helped the Crusaders remain unbeaten in Landmark play with a pair of strong performances. He scored a season-high 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting and grabbed five rebounds as Susquehanna topped Catholic on the road. He followed that with a 14-point, nine-rebound effort in a road win over Goucher. Cuff was 5-of-11 from three-point range on the week, including a 5-of-8 effort against the Cardinals. He averaged 21 points, seven rebounds and shot 58 percent over the two games, while adding five assists and a steal.

Thistle turned in a memorable performance at the Bucknell Two-Day Invitational. Thistle claimed a victory in the 5,000 besting the field by 27 seconds in the win. His time of 14:57.20 broke the Susquehanna record in the event by more six seconds, and was just 2.2 seconds shy of an NCAA qualifying time.

Fornadley won a pair of events in his final collegiate dual meet to help Susquehanna defeat McDaniel. Fornadley touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle in a time of 48.52 and also was the winner in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:52.29. He also was a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team which helped Susquehanna win the meet and post an unbeaten regular season.

Snyder earned four individual event wins over two meets to help Susquehanna capture a pair of dual-meet victories. She swam season-best times of 11:37.03 and 5:38.66 in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle races respectively to win both events in a dual meet against McDaniel. Earlier in the week she won the 200 and 500 freestyle races as the Crusaders topped Landmark foe Juniata. This is the second time this season she has earned Swimmer of the Week honors.

The Athlete of the Week selections are made by the Landmark Conference office. The conference chooses athletes of the week in men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming/diving during the winter sports seasons.
