Hernandez Earns MAC Honors

Crusader Halfback Named to Weekly Honor Roll after 125 Yards, 2 TDs in Win

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University halfback Isaac Hernandez has been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Football Honor Roll after his performance in Saturday's 16-14 victory at Lycoming.

In addition, the 5-10, 180-pound junior has also been named the Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week, and will be honored at the final Quarterback Club luncheon of the year on Friday in the Shearer Weber Dining Rooms of the Degenstein Campus Center. The Golden Corral Family Steak House of Shamokin Dam will donate $100 to the charity of Hernandez's choice, which will be announced at Friday's luncheon.

Hernandez (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area H.S.) carried the ball 25 times for 123 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns as the Crusaders rallied from a 14-3 halftime deficit to upset the 18th-ranked Warriors. Hernandez, who is ranked ninth in the MAC in rushing at 45.7 yards per game, scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards to spark the Crusaders' second-half rally.

The 25 carries, 123 yards and two rushing touchdowns are all career highs for Hernandez, who broke the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career in the victory.

Susquehanna (6-3 overall, 5-3 MAC, 1-3 Commonwealth League) will close the 2000 season on Saturday afternoon when they host Albright College at Lopardo Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
