Kodack Enters National PictureSophomore Earns Football Gazette Player of the Week Honors
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University sophomore strong safety Dennis Kodack is one of four players named Football Gazette Division III Defensive Player of the Week for games of September 30. Kodack (Paxinos, Pa./Shamokin Area H.S.) led the team with 10 tackles at strong safety in his first career start and was involved in two Wilkes turnovers that directly led to two Susquehanna touchdowns in a 35-21 win on Saturday. With the Crusaders trailing 14-7 in the third quarter and Wilkes at the Susquehanna 32, Kodack intercepted a Jeff Marshman pass and returned it 67 yards to the Wilkes 12 to set up the tying score. In the fourth quarter with the game even at 21-21, Kodack fell on a fumbled punt at the Wilkes 19. Six plays later, the Crusaders led for good at 28-21. Susquehanna will look to extend its best start since 1997 when the Crusaders host winless Juniata for Homecoming on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.
