Zook to Receive MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year Award

Will Be Honored at Melberger Award Luncheon in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University senior offensive tackle Randy Zook will be honored as the 2000 Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year during the 8th annual Downtown Wilkes-Barre Touchdown Club Awards Banquet at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday afternoon.

Zook (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley H.S.) joins 1994 recipient James Hickey as the only two Susquehanna players to win the MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year award in its 10 years of existence.

The Downtown Wilkes-Barre Touchdown Club was founded in 1991 and presents awards to the MAC, Centennial and Presidents Athletic Conferences. Also on Saturday, the Club will present the Melberger Award to the Outstanding Division III Football Player of the Year.

Zook, a 2000 Hewlett-Packard Division III honorable mention All-American, a Football Gazette South Region first-team All-Star and a three-time first-team MAC Commonwealth League All-Star, helped the Crusaders to a 7-3 overall record (6-3 MAC, 2-3 Commonwealth) during the 2000 season.

A tri-captain, Zook started all 10 games at left tackle and helped the team ranked second in the MAC in total offense at 391.4 yards per game. He was honored with his linemates as members of the D3football.com Team of the Week after the Crusaders knocked off Dickinson 24-13 in the first game at Lopardo Stadium on September 23.

Earlier this month, Zook was an honorable mention selection to Lutheran Brotherhood's 2000 Lutheran College All-America Football Team.

Zook is a public relations major and the son of Raymond and Joann Zook.
