More Honors for Drayton, Kodack

Crusaders Named to D3football.com Team of the Week,
Earn USA Football Division III Honorable Mention

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - A pair of Susquehanna University football players have been recognized by D3football.com as members of its Team of the Week for their performances in the Crusaders' 35-21 win over Wilkes last Saturday at Lopardo Stadium.

In addition, sophomore strong safety Dennis Kodack (Paxinos, Pa./Shamokin Area H.S.) and senior fullback Rashonn Drayton (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic H.S.) were named as honorable mention performers on defense and offense, respectively, by USA Football.com after leading the Crusaders to victory over the previously unbeaten Colonels.

Kodack led the team with 10 tackles at strong safety in his first career start and was involved in two Wilkes turnovers that directly led to two Susquehanna touchdowns.

With the Crusaders trailing 14-7 in the third quarter and Wilkes at the Susquehanna 32, Kodack intercepted a Jeff Marshman pass and returned it 67 yards to the Wilkes 12 to set up the tying score. In the fourth quarter with the game even at 21-21, Kodack fell on a fumbled punt at the Wilkes 19. Six plays later, the Crusaders led for good at 28-21.

Drayton ran for a season-high 136 yards on a career-high 39 carries and scored three touchdowns that covered 8, 12 and 2 yards to help the Crusaders overcome a halftime deficit for the second straight home game.

He leads the team in rushing with 247 yards in three games played (82.3 yards per game), and ranks fifth in the MAC in rushing and third in scoring with 30 points in three games (10.0 points per game).

Susquehanna will look to extend its best start since 1997 when the Crusaders host winless Juniata for Homecoming on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.
