Another Honor for an All-American

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University sophomore defensive back Antonio Nash has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in the Crusaders' 26-23 victory at King's College last Saturday afternoon, it was announced Tuesday.

On Monday, Nash was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and he is this week's Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week as presented by the Golden Corral Family Restaurant in Shamokin Dam.

Nash (Washington, D.C./Spring Brook, Md. H.S.), a near-consensus All-American as a freshman and a member of no fewer than five preseason All-America teams in 2000, made a career-high 13 tackles (eight solo) and intercepted his first pass of the year while starting at free safety for the first time in his career. Last season, Nash led the MAC and tied a school record with 10 interceptions from his cornerback position.

Nash leads the Crusaders (2-0) with 20 tackles (12 solo) through two games and has been a major factor in a pass defense that ranks first in the MAC, allowing just 115.5 yards per game through the air.

The recipient of the team's Gus Weber Player of the Week has a check of $100 from Golden Corral donated to the charity of his choice, and is the speaker at the team's weekly Quarterback Club Luncheon each Friday at noon in the Shearer-Weber Dining Rooms of the Degenstein Campus Center. Nash will announce his charity later this week.

The Crusaders will host Dickinson College in a non-conference matchup on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the first game at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium.
