Philipsburg-Osceola's Steward Ranked 15th in Division III in Digs per Game

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University junior captain and outside hitter Lydia Steward is ranked 15th in digs per game in this week's NCAA Division III volleyball statistics.

Steward (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola H.S.) has recorded 302 digs in 62 games for an average of 4.87 per game, leading the Commonwealth Conference and placing 15th in Division III. Kelly Sorenson of Willamette University leads the nation in digs with 331 in 56 games for an average of 5.91 per game.

In Tuesday's 3-0 Commonwealth Conference win over Moravian, Steward posted 19 digs in three games to go with five kills and six aces to help the Crusaders move to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in conference action. Her 19 digs boosted her season total to 321, moving her within 59 of tying the single-season school record of 380 set by Julie Dills during the 1994 season.

On October 4, Steward recorded a school single-match record 36 digs in the Crusaders' 3-2 loss at Elizabethtown, breaking her own record of 30 set against Tufts in the Coast Guard Invitational on September 9.

The Crusaders will return to the court on Wednesday, October 18 at Widener beginning at 7 p.m.
