McHUGH REPEATS AS COMMONWEALTH WOMEN’S TENNIS ALL-STAR

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University sophomore Tara McHugh earned her second consecutive berth on the Commonwealth Conference women’s tennis All-Star team, as voted on by the league’s eight head coaches.

The Crusaders finished with an 8-3 overall record (6-1 Commonwealth) under eighth-year head coach Bob Jordan and qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs for the first time since 1988 before losing to unbeaten FDU-Madison in the semifinals.

McHugh (Jeannette, PA/Hempfield Area H.S.) finished with a record of 10-4 in singles and advanced to the MAC semifinals before falling to Messiah’s Deanna Ng in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. McHugh won two matches in the MAC singles tournament after entering as the number-three seed in the 27-player field.

McHugh’s 21 career wins place her in a tie for eighth on the Susquehanna victory list, and she is just the second Crusader ever to record two seasons of 10 or more victories in a career.
