Susquehanna Begins New Crusade With 2007 Kickoff

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University athletics will begin a new crusade as it kicks off its fall 2007 seasons and is hoping to put an “Orange Crush” on its first opponent.

The Crusader football team will not only open its own season – and its first in the Liberty League – but also the NCAA Division III slate when it hosts Moravian on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The Susquehanna-Moravian contest is one of five games that will kick off the DIII season.

Susquehanna fans are asked to put an “Orange Crush” on the Greyhounds by wearing all orange to the game. The first 300 SU students through the gates will receive a bright orange “The New Crusade” t-shirt, courtesy of Farm and Home Oil Company in Milton , Pa.

The other Crusader fall sports teams start a new crusade of their own as they open play in the newly-formed Landmark Conference. SU students will have another opportunity to earn t-shirts by supporting the men's soccer team in its first game Friday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. vs. Pitt-Bradford, and the women's soccer team as it opens its tournament Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. vs. Alfred.

“Susquehanna is very excited for the 2007-08 season to begin competing in the Liberty League and Landmark Conference,” said Director of Athletics Pam Samuelson. “We hope students, faculty, staff and members of the community will come out to our kickoff contests and have a great time supporting our teams.”
