Eisenhard Earns Honors

Central Catholic Grad MAC Offensive Player of Week for Play in Widener Upset,
Also Team's Gus Weber Player of the Week, Sponsored by the Golden Corral

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) — Susquehanna University senior quarterback Ken Eisenhard (Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic H.S.) came off the bench to lead his team to a 28-24 upset win at nationally-ranked Widener which gave the Crusader program a share of its first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League championship. Eisenhard has been honored for his efforts as he is both this week's MAC Offensive Player of the Week, and the team's Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week, sponsored by the Golden Corral Family Restaurant in Shamokin Dam.

Eisenhard completed 16 of 27 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions Saturday as he rallied the Crusaders from a 14-0 first quarter deficit for their first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent in three years. A starter in each of his first three seasons, Eisenhard came off the bench at Widener to have one of the best games of his career in his final game. He completed touchdown passes of 22, 30 and 10 yards -- with the last one being a fade pass to freshman split end Tim Boblick (New Cumberland/Cedar Cliff H.S.) which proved to be the game-winner with 8:28 left.

The 6-0, 190-pound senior saw time in six games this season, completing 19 of 41 passes (46.3%) for 290 yards with three touchdowns and just one interception. He finished his career second in Susquehanna history in career passes (530), completions (249), passing yardage (3,800) and total offense (3,762), ranking third in touchdown passes (28).

"This was a great win for our program, and obviously great for the seniors. Look what Ken Eisenhard did. That kid's a winner right there," said ninth-year Susquehanna head coach Steve Briggs following Saturday's win.

"I can't say enough about Kenny and how he's handled things this year. That's a tough thing to lose your starting job, but he never let it effect his attitude on the practice field and how he prepared each week. He was ready to play Saturday and I'm very pleased that he's received some recognition for his performance."

As team Player of the Week, Eisenhard will have $100 donated to an area charity in his name, courtesy of the Golden Corral Family Restaurant of Shamokin Dam.

A sociology major, he is the son of Sonny and Donna Eisenhard of Allentown.

The Crusader football team posted its 13th-straight non-losing season, and second-straight winning campaign, finishing 6-3 overall, 4-1 and tied with Widener for first in the Commonwealth League. The .667 winning percentage is the program's best since 1992.
