Coming Home Seeking the Record

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University senior attack wing and co-captain Dana Makowski (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson H.S.) will be returning close to home for Tuesday's big 4:30 p.m. women's lacrosse game at nationally-ranked Rowan (7-4), and needs just four points to break the school scoring record.

Already the school record holder for career assists with 51, Makowski is third in career goals with 87 – giving her 138 points and leaving her just four shy of breaking the record of 141, set by current assistant coach and former teammate Sandy Jenkin (1996-99). Jenkin also holds the school record for career goals with 112. A Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star in each of her first three seasons at Susquehanna, Makowski has amassed her offensive numbers in 54 career games (2.56 ppg).

This season, Makowski is second on the team in assists with 13 (1.18 per game) – also scoring 21 goals to rank third in scoring with 34 points (3.09). She scored a season high four goals in Saturday's 19-7 rout of MAC rival Widener, which entered the game at 9-3.

In addition to career assists, Makowski also holds the school season assist record with 21 set a year ago.

Susquehanna is presently riding a five-game winning streak and is 9-2 overall, 5-1 and in second-place in the MAC for third-year head coach Gina Lucido. The Crusaders are ranked 35th in the latest NCAA Division III power ratings by LaxPower.com. Lucido has guided Susquehanna to a 31-12 (.721) record, including a 22-5 record the past two seasons, despite inheriting a program which had gone just 11-59 (.157) during its first nine years of varsity competition.

This will be Susquehanna's first meeting with 7-4 Rowan, which is ranked 11th in the latest Brine/IWLCA Division III coaches' poll and 18th in the LaxPower ratings.
